Recent Success: During the 2010-2011 school year, 87% of preschool children participating in our school readiness project met or exceeded growth goals for their age group. Powerful Schools partnered with Seattle Public Schools at their District Enrollment Nights to provide the families of children entering kindergarten with early transition support and activities to help them prepare for success in school.
Through a partnership with City of Seattle’s Office of Education and Community Day School Association, Powerful Schools is providing early literacy and arts learning to pre-school students attending five CDSA pre-schools in central and south Seattle.
With help from our School Readiness program, pre-schoolers are prepared for a smooth kindergarten transition and we help to ensure that the students we work with are adequately prepared for Kindergarten. Our team is also providing professional development for pre-school teachers to help build a connection between the pre-k and kindergarten curriculum & school environment.
